Trichotillomania?
I’ve just been researching Trichotillomania because I’ve been pulling at my body hair for years & it’s really getting to me.
It started when I was way younger, about 8/9 (I’m 17 now) I used to pull out my eye lashes until my eyelids were bald. I then started with the hair on my head, right at the hairline.
It all seemed to die down but over the last year or so I’ve noticed it again. I pull out the hairs on my arm, but only the ones that seem longer than others. I tweeze the hairs out of my legs & bikini line & I’m forever tweezing my eyebrows. I always find myself looking at them in the mirror to see if any need plucking out. The main reason I was researching this was because I’ve started plucking out my eyelashes again & I really don’t want to as it really knocks my confidence. I’m trying hard to resist.
Does anyone have any advice that can help me stop this? And what causes it?

Advice from these people isn’t going to help you. Trichotillomania is a serious mental illness & you need the help of an actual psychiatrist.

I had a bald spot on my head from hair pulling, & also had bald eyelashes….
now, I grab BIG chunks of my hair, & twirl it around my finger
somehow… doin that, i dont actually pull it out anymore
if you can replace your “pulling” with “twisting” instead, maybe that will help.
but at the same time, i even have the urge to pluck out my boyfriends hairs !!!! – now thats weird !

The cause of it as most mental disorders are difficult to diagnosis. You can treat the symptoms & you would need to see a psychologist.
Some may offer you to see a psychiatrist. Psychiatrist prescribe medication, they don’t offer therapy.
A psychologist will you discover why you do this, (specifically a behavioral or cognitive psychologist) & teach you ways to control that impulse.
