Eyelash Answers

I’m a 25 year old female. I’ve been engaged twice, & dumped twice. Not big on the dating scene. In fact, I’ve never done the “casual dating”… I’ve dated two men and.. well… yeah.
My last fiancee’s biggest complaint was that “You never dress up.” One of my biggest fears about dressing up is makeup… & I have no real sense of style. I’m terrified of going “over the top” into the slut appearance category, or with makeup the clown, but I also want to look sexy, attractive, & appealing. My idea of dressing up is “business casual”- khakis, a button-up blouse, & black shoes. I hate it. The other half of the time I dress like a tomboy- jeans, a t-shirt or a polo shirt & khakis.
I’ve watched videos on makeup from Youtube, but what I’ve seen… I have no idea how to pick a foundation, let alone apply it… and, uh, exactly what IS foundation? What use is foundation around the eyes?
Also, my meager experiments in the past with eyeshadow have been a dark brown at the tips of the eyelids, & a lighter brown up into the creases. How far up should I go? To the eyebrows? Or to the creases? And what are the “unspoken” rules about colors & eyeshadow? Is it reserved to match the clothing, the eyes, or the overall coloration? (e.g. why on earth do they even make brilliant blue & neon green eyeshadow?!)
What about mascara? Both upper & lower eyelashes, or just upper? I’ve never used an eyeliner before…
What about lipstick? I’ve been partial to a light, milk-chocolate brown (all 3 times that I’ve worn it in my life).
What materials should I use, & can you recommend a good set of makeup (preferably some colors that are cheaply available at my local Wal-Mart)? Or how about a link to a better tutorial, one that can take in my appearance?
Finally… I’m attempting to make my eyes look even. I have a tumor behind my right eye, & it makes it bulge out quite a bit. Do you have any techniques you could recommend to kind of “flatten” the eye, so it doesn’t stand out as much?

Also any thoughts you might have on nail-polish or hair styling (I like to keep my hair long, it’s about waist length, & has a red tinge in the sun- moderately wavy but I’ve been told by my hair dresser that it holds styles very well- & I’m about as experienced in styling my hair as I am at putting makeup on. My styling= wash, air dry, brush, & toss it into a ponytail). My best description of myself & my personal styles is “conservative” & “earth tones.”

ok so im a redhead & my eyelashes are blondish & light. what eyeliner (color or brand) could i use cuz black looks kind of ridiculous? & mascara also. & do u have any make up tips?? thank you

I am a independent contractor at a very nice salon where i do hair, make-up, waxing, eyelash extensions & i also make my own jewelry & display it there. I have a pretty decent amount of client, & am very happy with those that I have. Because of the type of salon it is, we do not get walk-ins..which is fine because I don’t want to be at that type of salon anyways. I am very confident in my work & love what I do but I am having trouble getting more in to fill in some gaps here & there to the point where I am always completely booked. I have made flyers & put them on cars in various places…went from business to business with them…they have coupons on them & a brief description of what I do. I have sent some to clients saying they will get a discount for referring..and that has brought a couple in but I’d like to have more. I also put an add in a local coupon magazine that everyone in the area gets for free. I am involved in many local art shows with my jewelry in which I give out my business cards to all other artists & buyers. I know it’s a rough time for alot of people right now money wise but I know there are people out there that I can get as clients…and I want to get them as soon as I can because I’m sure it would be best to get them before the holidays. Any suggestions are welcome & appreciated!…and because I am an independent contractor, I do not have a boss or anyone to tell me I can or cannot do this or that so I am able to advertise or get myself out there in any way I want, without promoting the rest of the stylists as well.

I am really dark, & my face is pretty oily.
Is there a good foundation & powder that would:
a) make my face look less shiny
b) Keep it from being so oily
and
c) make it to where it stayed that way ALL day long.

And my eyes, i have short, not real thick lashes.
I want full, long lashes, but i don’t want it to be real clumpy.
Is there a certain mascara i could use that would make it look like that?
Or should i try fake eyelashes?

i want to buy a mac pigment shadow you know the lose powder type? but im haveing a really hard time picking a colour. i want a colour that will make my eyelashes stand out so it must be a light colour. i have green/blue eyes thanks

I have alot of different colors, for makeup. normally I wear a pink gold & bronze mixture that looks really nice with my brown eyes & light brown skin. I have really long curly eyelashes & big brown eyes. I want a different look, is there something I can do with my makeup to make my eyes look light but still be different

i got so into curling my eyelashes this year
but do i put the mascara on before or after curling
i heard that u were supposed to do it after but the thing is when i do it after it ruins my curl & when i do it before the curl doesnt come out right
any advice?
plus i heard that now in days for chapped lips to put chapstick on & than apply the lipgloss
know any more tricks like this??
&& one more thing. sorry. my ma told me if u put honey on ur eyelashes it will make them stronger..idk if its like an old remedy & its crazy or it really does work

I have dark brown eyes, dark brown hair, & tan skin. I don’t know what to do for makeup though because I feel like I’m not “pretty enough” (I’m not lying). HI there. My mom says That when I turn 14 I can wear as much makeup as I want, because she knows I’ll put it on sensibly. So, I’ll be turning 14 in half a year. This is what I plan to buy:
MAKEUP:
matte blush
matte bronzer
powder
MAYBE tinted moisturizer
MAYBE brown mascara
clear mascara
MAYBE some brown and/or gray eyeliner, I hate black
light purple and/or blue and/or green liner
Eyeshadow in:
a 4 kit of browns & golds
purple
vanilla
TOOLS:
MAYBE an eyelash curler
q-tips
cotton pads and/or cotton balls
MAYBE makeup sponges, but most likely not
a set of makeup brushes
an eyebrow brush?
Should I
A) save up for a long while & buy it all at once
B) buy everything when I see it, & save it, the more broke version, & also I’ll probably end up using it.
Anything else I should get? I already have concealer. And lotion, zit cream etc. My eyes are dark blue (like denim) with blond hair & fair skin? HELP!!!

as i’ve said, i am fourteen, & i wear a lot of makeup. but i want to know if there is a way to wear less makeup but still look close to the way that i do when i have makeup on?
i usually wear foundation, & two different powders to give my face dimension. i use a lighter foundation for underneath my eyes since i have dark circles. then i brush on bronzer on the lower light parts of my face. i use eyebrow powder to define my thin eyebrows. i then put on eyeshadow, & then mascara. i curl my eyelashes & then apply fake eyelashes, since i’m half asian, & have very straight, thin, & short eyelashes. i put liquid eyeliner over the base of my fake eyelashes so that the glue that i use isn’t visible. i usually put a little bit of eyeliner on my bottom lids, & then i finish with blush.
it sounds like a lot of makeup but usually really doesn’t look like very much.
that’s my daily routine, & i’m tired of taking so long to get ready.
so i need advice on how to wear less makeup without looking bad.

i don’t know what kind’ve makeup to use on my face…
i have bold defined brows, big eyes, long eyelashes, a medium sized nose, & full lips. Plus I have dark skin so i try not to play up on the lipgloss.
when i put on eyeliner i look like a raccoon, any advice??
